Syeikh Yusuf Qardhawi telah mengeluarkan fatwa yang sangat rinci mengenai seruan ini. Usai memimpin shalat Jum’at di Masjid Umar, Qatar, beliau naik ke mimbar dan mengeluarkan fatwa boikot produk pendukung Zionis-Israel,

“Tiap-tiap riyal, dirham, dan sebagainya, yang digunakan untuk membeli produk dan barang Israel atau Amerika Serikat, dengan cepat akan menjelma menjadi peluru-peluru yang merobek dan membunuhi pemuda dan bocah-bocah Palestina. Sebab itu, diharamkan bagi umat Islam membeli barang-barang atau produk musuh-musuh Islam tersebut. Membeli barang atau produk mereka, berarti ikut serta mendukung kekejaman tirani, penjajahan, dan pembunuhan yang dilakukan mereka terhadap umat Islam di belahan dunia lainnya...”

Apakah aksi boikot ini berarti tidak mengkonsumsi atau tidak menggunakan produk-produk di atas? Bukan. Maksud boikot ini adalah tidak membelanjakan uang, bukan melarang mengkonsumsi atau menggunakan produknya.

Jubilee Awards

Menurut situs internet Virtual Israel pada 14 Oktober 1998, Perdana Menteri Israel, Benyamin Netanyahu menganugerahkan penghargaan tertinggi dari "Negara Israel" kepada sekelompok tokoh pebisnis internasional. Jubilee Awards nama penghargaan itu, menandai hari ulang tahun negara Zionis itu yang ke-50.
